I am a Board-Certified Occupational Therapist, trained in Functional Pelvic Health, with over 10 years of experience supporting individuals of all ages in regaining their independence after illness or injuries. I started out as a travel-therapist and I have worked in various settings across the country, from rural outpatient clinics, skilled nursing facilities, Level 1 trauma hospitals, schools, and ICUs.
I was burnt out trying to manage a home with two young boys and a full-time job focused only on paperwork and billing units. I grew tired of the “sick-care” system, and the lack of attention and priority placed on preventive care, basic education, and support. Especially for new mothers who just delivered either vaginally or via cesarean section. I needed more professionally and I wanted more for moms like me.
After struggling with my own postpartum recovery, I finally advocated for the care I knew I needed. Through my own journey, I realized I am not alone- and neither are you.
Wild Heart Wellness was created to support and empower you in reclaiming balance, strength, and grace as you reconnect with your true, authentic self on your own wellness journey.
I am curious - How can I help you feel whole again?

In Pilar’s Qigong class, we will focus on developing the mindset of aging well through daily practice of mental flexibility, physical stability and self-compassion. Qigong movement and Tai Chi is one path to integral living.
All you need is and the mind of a “Learner” and comfortable loose clothing.
What is Qigong?
Qigong, like Tai Chi helps move chi (energy) through the body improving circulation to the muscles and organs and the major myofascial tracks (meridians) that runs throughout the body. In traditional Chinese medicine, these tracks are called meridians. The use of breath (like in yoga) and slow fluid movement (like in Tai Chi), Qigong opens and moves energy through the “meridian highways” delivering energy and circulation to different organs. This has a profound impact improving the immune system, lifting mood, sleep, flexibility, stability and joint pain. Other benefits include calming the parasympathetic nervous system (Fight, Flight, Freeze response), flexibility, mental quieting, and strengthens muscles that promotes balance and prevention from falling.
Pilar Placone has a Doctorate of Philosophy in Integral Psychology where she studied the mental health benefits of merging 3 systems, eastern spiritual practices, neuroscience and western psychotherapy methods. She is a licensed psychotherapist and has been in private practice for over 33 years.
Pilar is a ranked 2nd degree Brown Sash student of Choy Li Fut, Kung Fu. She loves deep sea diving, cooking, gardening, and most anything outdoors.
Pilar’s daily practice for overall health is Yang style Tai Chi and Qigong. She did her training at the White Dragon Martial Art School in San Diego, CA. Her greatest joy, outside of her husband and dogs is her volunteer work at Best Friends Animal Sanctuary.
